Every year, the Department makes it a point to go beyond academics and involve its students in a plethora of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, and this year was no different. These activities under the autonomous system have been instrumental in ensuring a greater engagement of teachers and participation of the students. These activities have benefited not just the students but also the faculty in terms of their academic excellence. The details of our activities have been listed as follows:
  • At the beginning of the year we welcomed and oriented a batch of seventy four students aspiring to graduate in Humanities.
  • To familiarise students with different aspects of legislative procedures of Madhya Pradesh. A training program to Pt. Kunjilal Dubey Institute of Parliamentary Procedures and a visit to Vidhan Sabha was organised on 27th & 28th July 2016 in which 50 students participated.

  • To provide the students information and to send them on International Internship for leadership development and make them aware of the ground realities one day seminar was conducted on 11th August 2016 by AISEC.

  • A workshop was conducted on Suicide and the role of parents and teachers in its prevention on 12th August 2016.

  • Workshop on Cancer Awareness was conducted on 8th September 2016: Department of Humanities conducted a Workshop on Cancer and Lifestyle. It was conducted under the guidance of Dr. R.K. Pandey of Bansal Hospital. He gave the students as well as the staff members a deep insight knowledge about the lifestyle practices which leads to this deadly disease Cancer. Dr. R.K. Pandey talked about Cancer as a preventable disease but the need is to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

  • To make students aware about the importance of nature and sensitise them regarding environmental issues and concerns. The festival - 'Green Day' is conducted by the department every year. Students from all faculty participated in this program held on 16th September 2016. Tree Plantation was the most important activity of the event. Students and all the staff members were asked to be dressed in green.

  • To make the students aware of the importance of Hindi language, Hindi Diwas was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the college campus. "Hindi Pakhwara" was organised from 14th Sept. to 20th Sept. 2016. Various competitions like debate. poster making, and collage was conducted. A skit based on the life events of Kalidas and Tulsidas was depicted.

  • A lecture series was organised from 9th January 2017 to 16th January 2017 on various topics like human rights, E-Governance, Yoga Philosophy, Problems of National Integration, Career Counselling and Importance of Hindi. Experts from different field's viz Law, Media, Psychology were invited.

  • A visit to tribal museum was organised on 7th March 2017 to educate, assist and get an insight about the lifestyles of various communities viz. Bhil, Gond, Baiga, Kol, Saharia and Bharia etc. The students of BA enhanced their knowledge about the tribes of India.

  • Remedial coaching: The main objective of the scheme is to prepare Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minority communities candidates for appearing in NET or SET so that sufficient number of candidates are available for selection as lecturers in the University system. The institution has always strived to achieve excellence through persistent efforts. To make the student achieve better pedestal in life and to achieve academic competence, this venture was commenced on 2013.
  • UPSC/PSC classes are also a part of remedial coaching. The classes are conducted in two spells starting from July to October and from January to March. The basic objective of coaching scheme is to prepare students belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and minority communities to get gainful employment in Group 'A', 'B' or 'C' Central services.
  • Social Outreach Program AYYAM: It was a privilege and a great learning experience for the student of Humanities to visit AYYAM inclusion school on 18th January 2017. The students actively participated with the children who were suffering from various types of disabilities like Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Mental Retarded. They visited all the classrooms and interacted with the students, director, teachers and speech therapist. Students of BSSS College conducted a program and also organised games for the children. Children with Down Syndrome and Mental Retardation also participated actively which was really appreciating. Students also collected case history of these children. Overall the students were motivated with their field visit and the performance and involvement of them made the program successful.
